Present Activities

  • Enrolment of out-of-school to completion and transition to high tertiary for National development and reduction of truancy. Support by board of Trustees 
  • Awareness campaign on child abuse in 50 schools the project has reached 5000 pupils and students in Lagos state: partners: CPN Lagos and supported by Lagos State Universal Education Board (LSUBEB )  UNICEF 
  • Monitoring of educational zero project in Lagos state Partners: Lagos State Universal Education Board (LSUBEB ) and SCACEFA  
  • Capacity development for the organisation staff and volunteers on Prevention of sexuality exploitation abuse and harassment (PSEAH) supported by Resource Support Hub (RSH) Nigeria Chapter 
  • Capacity training of senior officers of Local government on Prevention of sexuality exploitation abuse and harassment (PSEAH) PARTNER: Resource Support Hub (RSH) Nigeria Chapter
  • Zero tolerance to TB cases in Lagos island and its environment Partners: EHAI, SFH, IHVN, USAID

Past Activities

  • Human Rights: 

    • Training of community development committee (CDC) members on their roles as advocates against sexual and gender based violence

      Health: 

    • Counseling women/girl-child on preventive program measures to violation of human rights, Preparation of Women for Court Cases and Legal Aid, counselling to Victims’ Family Members of Domestic Violence cases 

    • Training of adolescent girls on Sexual & Reproductive Health Rights in schools to reduce their vulnerabilities to HIV/AIDS, practice abstinence and prevention of TB and other communicable diseases.

      Empowerment

    • The organisation also with support from UNAIDS acquired computers and sewing machines to trained 5000 HIV/AIDS positive women, widows and other vulnerable women for economic empowerment. 
    • Economic skills empowerment for3000 girls and women who are at the risk of HIV/AIDS: supported by Lagos State / World Bank Assisted Project under (FADAMA11 Project) and
    • Capacity training to 2000 young vulnerable women and widows living with HIV/AIDS to promoting their sense of self-worth, self- independence, ability to determine their own choices and right to influence social change for themselves and family through education, awareness, literacy, agro-processors, skills training and access to soft loan/micro credit schemes to support their trade, alleviate them from dire

      Our partner and supporters:  African Women Development Fund (AWDF), three (3) times grantee. FADAMA11 World bank Project, UNAIDS, Lagos State Aids Control Agency (LSACA), World Bank /Lagos State APPEAL on Agricultural support for women and youth as an Agro-processor 

    • Collation of violence against women reported cases in 10 Local government Areas

    • No to bribery and all corrupt practices in collaboration with Youth Alive Foundation 

    • Communication and mobilization of community members to access TB test and inform other members of their family in partnership with Health Alive Foundation- TB Global Fund Project 2014-17 till date with another partner named: TB USAID/IHVN/SFH/EHAI 2020-2024

    • Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights advocacy for secondary school in 10 Local government areas in the state.Establishment of education / psychosocial support fund for children orphaned by HIV/AIDS especially, the girls-children supported by Board members

      Education:

    • WOPO is one of the 10 CSOs to partnered with government (CGP) for the Establishment of School based management committees (SBMC), monitored and mentored the members in every primary schools at Lagos island & Epe 

    • Provision of academic and moral education training during the long term holidays for the pupils of primary & junior secondary schools at the Owode-Ogombo Community in Eti-Osa Lagos State of Nigeria 

    • Facilitation of 3500 enrolment of out-of-school children from every areas of Lagos state 

    • Provision of educational materials & nutritional supplement for orphans & vulnerable children to support their retention, completion and transition to secondary schools
